The Story

I always say the best ideas come during long walks in the pasture.

Hi my name is Shelley Mae Walker, founder of Walk A Long Farm Flowers. Four years ago, while doing a daily calf check out in the pasture, God spoke to me very clearly about starting a flower farm. It was one of those quiet, ordinary moments that turned into something life-changing.

 For years I had been praying for an additional stream of income for our family - something that would allow me to stay home, work with purpose, and still be fully present for my husband, Daniel and our four children. I didn't know how it would happen, but trusted that the answer would come.

 And it did - right there in the pasture.

Gardening has always been something I truly enjoy. In fact, Daniel used to joke that we never did anything in the summers because I spent all of my time in the garden and honestly, he  wasn’t wrong!

So In the summer of 2023 we launched Walk A Long Farm Flowers. We stepped into this new adventure completely blind - but full of faith. I had been a vegetable grower for many years but, flowers were different. I had no idea what I was doing. I read books, watched Youtube videos and spent countless hours scrolling Instagram, soaking in all the information I could find.

That first summer,  we sold 20 flower subscriptions, offered weekly farm fresh arrangements, and even received inquiries for the 2024 wedding season. Even though that first year brought plenty of obstacles, we made it through. And in the midst of the challenges, I knew - we could do this. There was a real need in our community for what we had to offer.

Here at Walk A Long Farm Flowers our mission is to cultivate beauty and connection within our community. We believe in the power of locally grown flowers to brighten homes and bring neighbours together, one stem at a time.
